Cautions: Do not run any program in your Mac's background while installing an update. Turn off or disable any virus checking program. An update installer program changes code and other resources inside some of your TacOps files. If you have a virus checking program running in the background it may wrongly interpret the update process as an attempted infection. Before running an update installer program, restart your Macintosh while holding down the shift key. This will prevent most INITs and Extensions from loading and potentially interfering with the update process.
Steps:
1. Decompress the update archive to create one folder named "TacOps Sys Update 0.1.5". The files needed to perform the update are all inside this folder.
2. Update your TacOps game application. Open the folder named "TacOps Update Instal 0.1.5". Double click on the update installer program named "TacOps Installer 0.1.5" and follow the screen instructions. You may update any version of TacOps, including versions that have been previously updated, however the safest approach would be to start the update with a version 0.0.0 file copied from your original factory disks.
3. Update your Photo File Color. Open the folder named "Photo File Color Update 0.0.3". Double click on the update installer program named "Photo File Color Instal 0.0.3" and follow the screen instructions. You may update any version of Photo File Color, including versions that have been previously updated, however the safest approach would be to start the update with a version 0.0.0 file copied from your original factory disks.
4. Update your Photo File B&W. Open the folder named "Photo File B&W Update 0.0.1". Double click on the update installer program named "Photo File B&W Instal 0.0.1" and follow the screen instructions. You may update any version of Photo File B&W, including versions that have been previously updated, however the safest approach would be to start the update with a version 0.0.0 file copied from your original factory disks.
5. Update your scenarios and maps. There is no installer program for this step. The updated scenario and map files are already in their normal game format. Simply move or copy the individual scenario and map files contained in the update folder named "Scenario & Map Updates" to where you have the TacOps scenario and map files with the same names located on your hard disk.
6. Read the documentation. Read the various text files in the folder named "Documentation Updates". They contain important information on new game features and significant changes in old features. Some of the files have both Microsoft Word versions and simple text versions. If you are able, you should use the Microsoft Word versions as they contain useful illustrations that are not found in the simple text versions.
